Bacolod Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia honored 10 organizations and individuals with the Mayor’s Citation awards during the commemoration of the 79th year of the signing of the Charter of Bacolod City last

June 18, 2017 at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.

The awardees are:

1. NEGROS OCCIDENTAL GARDEN CLUB

In appreciation of its steadfast commitment not only to the promotion of garden floriculture and community beautification, but also to many public service projects including the landscaping and enhancement of the atrium within the Bacolod City Government Center.

2. DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES – NEGROS ISLAND REGION

For partnering with the City Government of Bacolod in the launch of the 5-Year Bacolod City Urban Development Greening Program through the planting of 1 million trees in the city, with the goal of attaining sustainability in climate resiliency and food security, thus making Bacolod a livable and biodiversity-friendly city.

3. NEGROS KARBARKADA PAINTERS’ ASSOCIATION, INC.

In grateful appreciation and recognition of its commitment to public service through its generous donation of materials and services in the repainting of the Bacolod City Government Center façade and interior of the lobby at the start of this administration as well as other public buildings.

4. SM PRIME HOLDINGS, INC.

For its confidence in the direction set by the Bacolod City Government for the growth of the City, and exhibiting such faith through major investments as the SMX Convention Center, the first SMX in the Visayas, as well as its substantial mall expansions projects.

5. AYALA LAND CORPORATION

In grateful appreciation for their continued faith in the direction set by the Bacolod City Government for the growth of the City, by its development projects worth more than P6 billion, among which are the Ayala Capitol Civic Center, a 4-story Ayala Mall, an 8-story office building, a hotel and the Amaia Steps Capitol Central condominium project, which will not only change the skyline of the City but also provide thousands of jobs to our people.

6. MEGAWORLD CORPORATION

For its continued faith in the direction set by the Bacolod City Government for the growth of the City, by allotting over P35-billion in real estate investments to build two townships over the next 10 years which developments are expected to vastly change our City’s landscape and generate over a hundred thousand jobs before and after their completion.

7. CITYMALL

For its continued faith in the direction for growth set by the Bacolod City Government as a chain of community shopping malls, by opening CityMall Mandalagan which carries the distinction as the First Grand CityMall nationwide, and CityMall Goldenfield which is set to begin operations next month, among their other major investments.

8. ROBINSONS LAND CORPORATION

In appreciation of its continuing faith in the direction for growth set by the Bacolod City government, by putting up its fourth real estate development project in the city, the 22-hectare Brighton Homes, a residential subdivision project, after other major investments such as Robinsons Place, Robinsons Cybergate and Go Hotel.

9. CERES NEGROS FOOTBALL CLUB

In recognition of its sporting spirit as they pursue their commitment to promote and develop the sport of football in our province and abroad, and reawakening widespread enthusiasm for the sport among the locals; for demonstrating valuable qualities not only of unity and team work but also respect, integrity and the will to win, more often than not, garnering victories, thus bringing pride and renown to the City they represent.

In appreciation of his dedication as radio host, since 2010, of the music program “Yesterday” aired worldwide on DZMM / ABS-CBN, this home-grown but “transplanted” resident has remained a Bacoleño at heart and in spirit. Widely acknowledged for his passion for excellence, he continues to bring pleasure and enjoyment not just locally but to international audiences, as well, thus bringing honor to his family and to the City of his birth.*
